Venta Silurum Guide is an indie walking-tour app for Caerwent Roman Town. This policy explains what data the app uses, why it is used, and the choices you have.

1. Who Runs This App

Venta Silurum Guide is built and run by Josh as a solo developer. For privacy questions or data requests, email josh@caerwent.app.

2. Location Data

The app asks for location permission while you are using it so it can show your position on the map, point you towards nearby sites, calculate distances, and trigger audio descriptions when you approach tour stops.

Your live location is processed on your device. It is not sent to the app developer's server and is not stored by the app developer.

3. Data Stored On Your Device

The app stores some settings locally on your device, such as tour preferences, cached weather display data, cached content metadata, cached audio files, and purchase unlock state. This helps the app work faster and keep some features available when network access is limited.

You can remove this local data by deleting the app from your device.

4. App Content, Audio, And Network Requests

The app may contact Caerwent app servers to download updated stop information and audio files. Standard server logs may include technical information such as IP address, request path, user agent, and timing data. These logs are used for security, reliability, and debugging.

The app also loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap-related services and may request current weather for Caerwent from Open-Meteo using fixed Caerwent coordinates, not your personal location.

5. Purchases

If you buy or restore the full-tour unlock, purchase handling is provided by the App Store or Google Play and a purchase entitlement service. The app uses a random app user ID to check and restore your unlock status. The app developer does not receive your full payment card details.

6. Third Parties

To provide the app, some information may be handled by third-party services:

• Hosting and storage providers: delivery of app content and audio.
• Purchase entitlement providers: unlock checks and restore support, if in-app purchases are used.
• Apple App Store or Google Play: payment processing and app distribution.
• OpenStreetMap-related services: map tile display.
• Open-Meteo: current weather for Caerwent using fixed place coordinates.

7. What Is Not Sold

The app developer does not sell your personal data. The app is designed to use the minimum data needed to run the walking tour, content updates, weather display, maps, and optional purchase unlock.

8. Your Choices

• You can deny location permission and still browse stops, articles, and village information, although live tour guidance and automatic audio triggers will be limited.
• You can change or revoke location permission in your device settings.
• You can contact josh@caerwent.app to ask questions or request deletion of any data held by the developer.

9. Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date will change when the policy changes.
